SICILY. Leontini. Circa 430-425 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.18 g, 3 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΛEONTINON Head of a lion with open jaws to right; around, three barley grains; below, kithara. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte, 56 (same dies). HGC 2, 672. Jameson 631 (same dies). SNG ANS 243 (same dies). Very rare and nicely toned. Struck from a slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, very fine.
